In the Courts of Love - Hindi Poem
When love is dipped with romance and longing, the attachments that accompany it, often results in foolishness or hopelessness. Following is a poem on love by Manas Madrecha that describes the plight of couples into which they fall after falling in love.
Love is such a beautiful emotion; yet, when this emotion is dipped with romance and longing, the attachments that accompany it, often results in foolishness or hopelessness. Hindi Poem on falling in Love

Mohabbat Ke Darbaaro Mein
Ek jhalak sau dhadkan ko, tez karaane kaafi hain;
Mohabbat ke darbaaro mein, ‘Manas’ badi naa-insaafi hain..
Aisa lagaa hain rog raag ka, jaankar bhi ‘Manas’ anjaane;
Rakt varna ke labo ko dekh, huye shaheed kitne deewane…
Milta kaha sukoon ‘Manas’, ik baar mile jo dono nain;
Galiyaaro se guzarte dekh, koi basaa aankho mein ek;
Ude udar mein jhilmil titli, samajh jagaa ‘Manas’ avivek…
Nazre dhoondhe premi ko, ‘Manas’ har choti aahat mein;
Yaado mein khoye rehte hain, deewane apni chahat mein…
Har leti hain ulfat akla, par hain ‘Manas’ kamaal cheez;
Ho ek aur apno se kshobh, anjaana fir bhi lage azeez…
Deewane ne di apni hi saas, ab kahe chahat aayi na raas;
Diljalaa hain ‘Manas’ parwaana, khud gaya jalne agni ke paas…

In the Courts of Love
-
One glance is enough to quicken hundreds of heartbeats.
In the courts of love, there is great injustice! -
Such a disease of romance has been inflicted that people are knowingly ignorant.
Seeing the blood-coloured lips, how many crazy ones have become martyrs! -
Where do you get relief, once the two eyes meet!
Giving away the heart to a stone-hearted, why do you search for heart’s comfort? -
While roaming in the lanes, I saw; and some one got settled in the eyes!
As a sparkling butterfly flies in the stomach, understand that lack of conscience has arose. -
The eyes search for the beloved one, in every small step.
In the memories, the crazy ones stay lost in longing. -
Attachment snatches away wisdom, but it is a wonderful thing.
On one side, there is annoyance with close ones; while, a stranger, then too, feels dear. -
The crazy one gave away his own breath; while, now he says he didn’t find love befitting.
That moth is heartbroken, for he himself went near the fire to burn…
