Hindi poem on rain

Barish par Kavita

Pehli Baarish Ki Muskaan

Aur ek din sahasaa huya, sheetal ‘Manas’ vaataavaran…

Jhoom jhoom kar mast magan, har suman, tehni, patti doli…

Jo chamka do kshan damini, toh goonj uthe dharni ke spandan,
Sandhya ghabraai sun apne, megho ka romaanchit garjan…

Smile of First Rain - Hindi poem on Rain

In the heat of blistering summer, seated hoping for the rains,
With the dry mouth facing towards sky, people are drenched in sweat.

But, there was a respite from the harassment, as the wind abducted the heat.
And one day, all of a sudden, the surrounding became cool…

When the black crowd of clouds arrived by the pace of wind,
Every swinging flower, branch and leaf rocked being engrossed in conviviality.

As the lightning flashes for two moments, the vibrations of the earth reverberate.
The Evening became frightened, listening to her clouds’ thrilling roar.

The waterfall of pearls slowly pours down from the sky drop by drop.
Since how long have the thirsty earth longed for the feeling of raindrops!

No sooner than the water falls on the ground, does the unparalleled aroma of the soil spreads.
Getting sanctified by water, how green the nature looks!

Everyone breathes with relief, when the [burning sun] is reined in,
Seeing with wet eyes, the smile of the first rain…
