Introduction

The passionate journey of recollecting the past often brings a smile upon our face. Probably our foregone years and their associated memories are the only things that can stay with us forever if we choose to keep them alive. But the thing with memories is that they turn into nostalgia unless remembered from time to time.

Hence here is an English poem on Past and Memories by Manas Madrecha that unfolds how the poet remembers his tale of the fictional bygone days, and savors the aroma of remembrance.

Although our vision lies towards the future and we may try to only move forward in our rapid lives, the saying ”Old is gold” loves to prove itself on many occasions. Furthermore by gifting us with the phenomenal present of memories of the past, our mind keeps us reminded of the events that have helped in shaping us into who we are today.

English Poem on Past Memories

Basking in your sultry touch,
Like capricious summer breeze!
O old good times of my life,
With you, my moments cease.

In the sinuosity of memories,
A mesmerizing face I sought;
Amid the rumble of routine,
Who could have, O ‘Manas’, thought?

Willingly we got beguiled,
In the augury snared by Cupid;
Fallen in the abyss of eyes,
How smitten were we too stupid!

With time, to forget the bygone past,
We had moved on, perchance;
But entranced eyes couldn’t move past,
The gaze of your countenance.

I focus ruminatively sometimes,
On blurred visions of remembrance,
To dredge our lost togetherness,
From the remnants of reminiscence…

Beyond the realm of possibility,
It is, to forget indelible past!
How do I make my heart understand,
But, some things just don’t last?

In no time, to return no more,
The glee flees of foregone days;
Then remain the memories,
And enticing nostalgia’s maze…
